Two names, two places of worship
No: Arulmigu Sri Rajakaliamman Glass Temple and Arulmigu Rajamariamman Devasthanam are not interchangeable names for one Johor Bahru attraction. If a saved list, photograph and map pin seem to describe different buildings, pause before adding the stop. Keep each full name attached to its own information.
This distinction is useful when planning a Singapore–JB cultural outing: one companion may want to see a reflective interior, while another remembers a tall sculptured entrance tower. Agree which place interests the group instead of booking a vague “Indian temple” stop and expecting both experiences at one address.
For the mirrored interior, identify the Glass Temple
Tourism Johor identifies the Glass Temple as Arulmigu Sri Rajakaliamman, in the Wadi Hana area, and describes extensive coloured-glass and mirror decoration. The glass in its nickname refers to the decorative surfaces; do not imagine a modern transparent glass-walled pavilion. Our historical photograph shows the kind of mirrored detail being discussed.
The tourism listing associates it with a history beginning in 1922. That is a separate identity from the 1911 history on the Rajamariamman temple’s own website. You need not memorise dates to enjoy the visit, but they help prevent two web descriptions being merged into one invented story.
For the five-tiered tower, read Rajamariamman’s own account
Arulmigu Rajamariamman Devasthanam’s website describes its 75-foot, five-tiered Rajagopuram, the monumental entrance tower. If that is the architecture someone saved, retain this temple’s full name when checking the destination. Do not transfer its tower measurement, history or worship timetable to the Glass Temple merely because the names sound similar.
A useful way to discuss the choice is by the feature you actually want to see: reflective interior decoration or the tower described by Rajamariamman’s own account. Neither description guarantees unrestricted visitor access. Both are living religious places, not exhibits that a transport operator can promise to open.
Choose one meaningful stop, not a compulsory temple checklist
For someone interested in materials and light, the Glass Temple may be the more relevant question to investigate. Someone following Rajamariamman’s history or entrance architecture has a different reason for visiting. There is no need to call one the better temple or assume that every member of the group wants a religious stop.
If you want both, list them as two separate requests and confirm feasibility. Do not infer that they are adjacent, have the same entrance rules or can be covered within a fixed number of minutes. This article is a planning comparison, not a first-hand tour report, religious interpretation or claim of special access.
Before travelling, ask the right venue the right question
Check the full name, intended date and visitor purpose with the appropriate temple. Ask whether sightseeing visitors may enter at that time, what dress, footwear and photography rules apply, and whether an amount is payable. A published prayer schedule is not automatically a sightseeing appointment; special functions can change arrangements.
For this 31 October 2026 review, the Rajamariamman website was readable, but direct access to the Tourism Johor Glass Temple page timed out. Its public listing supports the identity distinction, not a fresh operational confirmation. We therefore do not publish a supposedly verified current admission price or opening window. If the visit cannot be confirmed, keep another part of the JB day flexible rather than promising entry.

Send a clear destination for the road journey
When asking about a Singapore-to-JB private car, send the chosen temple’s full name and a matching map location, together with your actual date and pickup area. If more than one stop is intended, describe each separately. Admission, ceremonies and any guide are separate from transport; waiting, extra stops and the final fare need confirmation. A driver or road-transfer booking does not establish permission to enter or photograph a place of worship.
